Must admit I had never heard of a 306 cabrio before.

Really? I see them all the time, even now after 2 decades. They sold a ton of them and being tough cars many survived. Much better cars than its competitors, the Astra, Escort, 19/Megane, Rover something and even the Golf.

I meant the cabrio specifically, but the ordinary 306s are rate here too. It’s increasingly difficult to insure cars more than about 15 years old.

A Pininfarina job, no less—note the flank-mounted emblem!

I know, I specifically meant the convertible too. They’re not uncommon in either the Netherlands or Germany, in 2018. Numbers are declining fast though, like other older fwd convertibles the economic value is low.

You said you never heard about the 306 convertible before, that’s the part that surprised me. You talked about the difficulty of owning an older car in Ireland before, but it’s not that long ago that the 306 was still <15 years old and I’m guessing you’re not a young teenager, so I had expected these things to have been common in Ireland once, some years ago. I guess you guys don’t really do French cars?
